Structural
This is a really broad area which includes such a wide range of repairs it's almost impossible to sum up. Accidental knocks or falls, being left in a hot car, age, rough repairs and poor manufacturing can all be reasons an instrument finds itself needing this work. Cracks, splits, glue seam separations, broken peg heads, cracked heels and separated fingerboards. Lifting braces and bridges, changes in an instruments geometry as it ages and undoing previous modifications or poor repairs are just some of the types of work I have seen. Fortunately, in this age of consumerism and planned obsolescence, musical instruments remain for the most part, items that we treasure and maintain instead of simply replacing when something goes wrong! Don't forget, instruments get better with age! Luke Parry 0415 266 878 |
