Custom Guards
If you're looking for an impossible to find guard or one that never existed, I can make one for you.

For a valuable custom shop level guitar or something you couldn't dream of drilling extra holes in,  a guard made from the material you want, to the exact dimensions and mounting screw pattern of your guitar could be the way to go.

I have found over the years that the great majority of aftermarket guards vary in shape and screw hole spacings and often require filing and sanding around neck pockets and pickups and of course drilling extra holes in your guitar to mount them.

A custom made guard guarantees no extra screw holes and no unnecessary gaps while maintaining the factory (or better) look.

I have made new replacement guards for acoustics, solid body electric guitars and basses, one off student project builds and bound guards for treasured vintage archtops.

I have a wide selection of good quality pickguard material in stock and am always adding to the range. Also happy to use anything you can supply too.

Case Repair
Most people don't give too much thought to the condition of their instruments case. I've seen what can happen to an instrument when the case is worn or fails so I'd recommend keeping your case in reasonable shape.

Keep an eye out for the following,
  • Separations of top or bottom and sides, particularly on cardboard or ply cases.
  • Loose or cracked handles, bent or loose latches and hinges.
  • Covering that has lifted on the edges or has cuts and abrasions.
  • Lid straps that are loose, missing or too short causing the lid to not be able to sit up on its own.
  • Lining or padding that is loose or thinned from wear and tear particularly at the neck rest and tail end allowing the instrument to rest on unpadded surfaces or be shocked while transporting.

I don't often take pics of the case repair work but I've repaired dozens of cases over the years and always keep stock of most types of common case hardware, (even have a collection of impossible to get original Cheney latches and hinges!) tolex etc.
