Builds - fitting parts
Building your own parts guitar is a great project for anyone. Researching and selecting each component and watching your own model come together is fun! To make sure your time and money is not wasted, I can assemble your parts or assist at certain stages of the build. Most aftermarket parts manufactures stay close to 'standards', however necks and bodies very rarely slip together beautifully. The fitting and aligning of necks and bridges so strings are centered over the neck and pickup poles is not always an easy job and drilling into thin brittle finishes can be stressful. Upgrading your current guitar is also something that's made easy by the availability of high quality parts. Necks and bodies, tuners, tremolo systems, pickups and pickguards are readily available for you to spice up an old favourite. Not all of these parts are drop in replacements. I can take the worry out of the upgrading process by professionally fitting your new bits! I'm the first person to encourage your inner tinkerer to have a go, but if you have any worries, give me a call! |

Custom Guards
If you're looking for an impossible to find guard or one that never existed, I can make one for you. For a valuable custom shop level guitar or something you couldn't dream of drilling extra holes in, a guard made from the material you want, to the exact dimensions and mounting screw pattern of your guitar could be the way to go. I have found over the years that the great majority of aftermarket guards vary wildly in shape and screw hole spacings and often require filing and sanding around neck pockets and pickups and of course drilling extra holes in your guitar to mount them. A custom made guard guarantees no extra screw holes and no unnecessary gaps while maintaining the factory (or better) look. I have made new replacement guards for acoustics, solid body electric guitars and basses, one off student project builds and bound guards for treasured vintage archtops. I have a wide selection of good quality pickguard material in stock and am always adding to the range. Also happy to use anything you can supply too. |
